the mormon way

i've never been a religious person. my parents were raised catholic and i was always raised just to be a good person and not live by any set of rules in a book. i spent a little time during high school going to a church's youth group, but it was more of a popularity contest than a real life changing belief. when i was a freshman in college i worked at a music venue and made friends with a group of boys who were really into metal music and dressed really cool, flannel shirts, vans, and tight jeans. you know, just normal teenagers. i got to be really close with one of the, named Brenden, and we are still great friends today. after hanging out with him a few weeks i found out that he was mormon.

the only experience i'd ever had with mormons were in middle and  high school and they were just these religious nut jobs who got to leave school and get class credit to go learn about god. let me say, i did not like them. so, i was obviously a little resistant about continuing my friendship with Brenden after finding out his beliefs.

this all completely changed after getting to know him and we eventually became inseparable and the best of friends, despite our beliefs. his family was not too hot on the idea of him becoming so close to a girl though. this was because he was going to go on his mission in just a few shorts months. if you don't know what a mormon missionary does, you can learn about it here . it was going to be a huge step in his life and i now understand why his parents were so upset about me coming into his life over a year ago. i pushed him out of my life last october to try and protect him so he could forcus on his mission and not think about me.

brenden has now been gone on his mission in Washington DC for over a year now and we have kept in touch through letters and emails. he is just such a wonderful person and one of the only people i care about in my life, even though he is acrossed the country. one more year and he'll be back though!! woo hoo! we just need to keep our friendship strong until then and it will be just like it was before! so, here is some photos of brenden he has sent me since being in dc.

yay brenden!

im gonna convince him to do an interview soon so you can get to know the real brenden!

but, i bring brenden up because i have been reading alot of different blogs lately and have sent him a few of girls that i really admire. fnny thing is, one girl who i th ink is soooo neat and unique and amazing, is actually mormon! i wouldn't have ever thought in my whole life that i would admire someone with such different beliefs as me. you can read about taza and her husband on this blog .
i hope u enjoy it as much as me!

BLUE TEETH

i whitened my teeth today and had to put this "remineralizing" gel on it afterwards so my teeth don't fall out..or something like that. and i thought i'd share a photo from what it looks like..pretty funny.

it also snowed about 4 inches in arizona over new years and everyone turned into crazy people on the roads! not the most fun thing in the world driving on roads in a town not equipped with proper snow plows.

at least my parent's dog had a good time

i also remembered this levi's commercial that i used to absolutly love. remember this?

it's one of my favorite poems of all time by walt whitman. enjoy :)

calendar

i am involved in this organization called Arizona Chicks with Picks, which  showcases female singer/songwriters in Arizona and books shows and events for them. i was one of the first 5 girls to become involved and its given me alot of great oppotunities! last year i opened up for Michelle Branch at Tempe Town Lake and have gotten to play all over the state. Recently, i also did a photoshoot for the 2011 AZ Chicks with Picks calendar, which you can see here(im the second one on the top).

AZCHWP also does this event with Telekon Studios in Cave Creek AZ called 24X24 where 24 musicians get one hour to record a song all in the span of 24 hours. this is the 3rd year i've done this and here's a photo from the totally awesome studio. did i mention i got to do this all for FREE!

THIS is a song from last year, called Whiskey Man, which is from my second EP.
to hear more songs from me go to my myspace page. i'd love to hear your feedback about my music.

A NEW DOG PERHAPS?

MEET JACKSON!!

my cousin mary breeds Pomeranians and she had 3. the momma and daddy are used to breed all of there $600!!! puppies and this little guy is a year and a half and from one ofthe previous litters. they kept him since he was born, but he was just sort of being pushed into the background.(his dad had some territorial issues) so when i went to visit this past weekend i brought the little guy home with me. currently, me and devin, my boyfriend, are living at my parents house and they already have another dog and a cat and they don't want any other animals right now.

this really makes me sad because i've never had a dog of my own and Jackson is my doggy soulmate i believe. he has slept in our bed with us, pressed right up against my body and playfully claws at my face every morning to wake me up. HE IS JUST SOOOOO CUTE! and he makes me really really happy.

i've been reading a few blogs about new moms, or moms-to-be, and they seem to be having the same feelings i am having over this dog. haha! i don't plan on having kids anytime soon, but Jackson is like the baby i always wanted. he is cute. he is smart. and he just loves unconditionally. i have never experienced unconditional love from something and it is the most warm/fuzzy feeling i have ever felt.

hopefully, with christmas only being a few weeks away, my parents will change their minds. jackson would be the best xmas present ever :)

FAKE ANIMAL FRIDAY

this was taken last december while i was in colorado at the Denver science museum. they had this whole section of "fake" taxidermy where all of the animals were made of wood and faux fur and all that. they had all of these educational stations and this one was showing how much better a deer's ears can hear. ha my favorite animal is a deer, so naturally i picked these up! i wish i had a pair that i could wear out everyday. everybody i work with at Starbucks makes fun of me because i say the word 'what' more than any other word on a daily basis. i think ill go clean my ears now. so in the mean time, a few more photos from that trip.

A NEW DAY

So, i made this blog months and months ago and didn't do anything with it so i am now going to start writing on here alot more since i will be having alot more free time. i work at Starbucks and have for about 4 or 5 months but my interests have been in other places since working there. this is about who i am now.

i collect russian nesting dolls, Matrynoskas, and have three sets currently. i also have an inner arm tattoo dedicated to them.

i have noticed that lately they have become a huge trend in fashion, in places such as Etsy
and Urban Outfitters,
which is great for me because now i can collect even more and more!

i am not going to write much for this first post beccause i don't know if i will keep up with it, but if so i am looking forward to hearing from anyone who decides to follow me.
